Your Path to Battle Starts Here.
Train. Fight. Repeat
Join the Knights of Albion by sending us your details and letting us know how you’d like to get involved — fighting, squiring, marshalling, or supporting. Once you submit the form, one of our committee members will reach out, answer any questions, and help you take your first steps into armoured combat with us.
Not sure what to expect? Check out our Training Schedule page for more information on how sessions run, what to bring, and the pathways from beginner to steel fighter. Already filled out the form? If you haven’t heard back from us yet, don’t stress — things can get busy between events. Send us a DM on our socials, or come down in person to Tuesday training at 5:30pm at Albion Park Showgrounds and say hi to the team.
The Training Schedule.
We are first and foremost a Buhurt club. Our training follows AMCF rules and focuses heavily on the skills needed for full-contact medieval team fighting: clinching, takedowns, grappling, controlled striking, teamwork, and armour mobility. While Buhurt is our primary discipline, we also train in Duels and Profights for members who want to expand their competitive pathways. No matter your interest, your training begins with safety, fundamentals, and technique.
Monday | Open Matt & Armour
5PM Kit Up For 5.30pm Start at Cockpit (Albion Park Showground)
Steel sessions with full contact, weapons work, conditioning in armour for preparation of 1:1, team takedowns and tactics training - all the basics and conditioning focus/
Tuesday | Soft Kit Training
5.30pm Start at Cockpit (Albion Park Showground)
Building the foundational steps of Buhurt, Profights and more as our whole team sessions where we welcome new fighters to come along and experience the sport for the first time.
Thursday | Open Matt & Armour
5PM Kit Up For 5.30pm Start at Cockpit (Albion Park Showground)
A flexible session for sparring, drilling, footwork, and refining individual skills. Work on fitness, strength, and technique at your own pace with the team beside you.
What To Bring & Expect?
If it’s your first time stepping into the world of armoured combat, the most important thing to know is that you won’t be put into steel straight away. Armour and weapons are something you work toward through training, safety progression, and eventually purchasing your own kit. Buhurt is a full-contact combat sport, and while the armour keeps us safe, we only put members in steel once they’ve learned the fundamentals and demonstrated safe, controlled technique. Tuesdays are our core club night and the minimum training session expected for all members. This is where new fighters begin, working through conditioning, drills, footwork, tactics, and controlled contact in soft kit. Every second Thursday features steel-focused training for those with armour or progressing toward it, and Sundays offer an open mat or invite-only session depending on trainer availability and competition season.
Before attending, please complete the interest form on this page and send us a message on socials so we know you’re coming. For your first session, arrive at 5:30pm on Tuesday at The Cockpit, Albion Park Showgrounds (Poultry Shed Pavilion). Please bring long pants (track pants preferred), a jumper or hoodie (hoods give extra padding during grappling), groin protection for all genders, a water bottle, and comfortable exercise shoes. When you arrive, speak to one of our committee members and they’ll guide you through your first session.
Your introduction to Buhurt will focus on safe movement, how to fall correctly, striking rules, prohibited targets, and the fundamental drills every fighter must learn. You’ll train alongside the team straight away, getting a feel for the intensity, teamwork, and physicality of the sport. Every week builds on these skills, reinforcing safe habits so you can progress confidently toward steel. Your first training session is free, and if you choose to continue, our membership options help support the club, equipment, training gear, and our not-for-profit community focus. We’re here to make your first steps into armoured combat safe, structured, and genuinely exciting — you’ll know quickly if Buhurt is for you.
