We train several times per week at The Cockpit — our dedicated training grounds at the Albion Park Showgrounds (Poultry Shed Pavilion), Tongarra Road, NSW.
Tuesday training starts at 5:30pm and is open to prospective members and supporters.
If you’re trying to find us, just look for the fighters in medieval armour… we’re hard to miss.

Buhurt is a full-contact combat sport involving weighted armour and steel weapons, so for insurance, safety, and liability reasons, our club is 18+ only.
All competing members must complete the required waivers and hold the appropriate insurance before participating.
-
Members join on a weekly direct-debit subscription which provides:
Full access to all training sessions
Access to The Cockpit training grounds during training
Support from experienced fighters, coaches, and marshals
Pathways into steel fighting, marshaling, squiring, and club support roles
Memberships keep our club running and ensure everyone has the training, equipment knowledge, and support needed to progress safely.

It looks dangerous — and that’s why we train the way we do.
Buhurt is a full-intensity, full-contact sport involving steel weapons, grappling, takedowns, and up to 25–30kg of armour. But the armour works. All equipment follows strict AMCF regulations for thickness, steel grade, construction, and bluntness.
Every weapon is blunted and weighted. Every piece of armour is designed specifically for safety under impact.
We train:
Safe striking
Safe falling
Target zones (and prohibited zones)
Technique first
Controlled escalation
Strength, fitness, and conditioning
Safety protocols before every session
We also train and certify marshals (referees) who monitor fights and ensure all combat is controlled and safe.
You won’t be thrown straight into the fray — our structured training pathway ensures you develop safely, with experienced oversight at every step.
-
You don’t have to be a fighter to be part of the Knights of Albion.
Our club includes:
Marshals – referees trained to officiate fights
Squires – assist fighters with gear and preparation
Supporters – help at events, logistics, and community activities
Soft-kit trainers – members working through non-armoured development
Event staff & volunteers – essential to running our demos and competitions
We’re a community club — if you want to be involved, there’s a place for you.
-
Absolutely. We have a strong women’s team: The Albion Nightmares.
Women train with us weekly and compete at state and national level. Our women’s captain is also the Vice-Captain of the NSW Harpies — the official New South Wales women’s Buhurt squad.
Training is mixed, inclusive, and fully supported. The women’s league follows the same combat formats, standards, and training pathways as the men’s league.
-
